Morgan Engelmann, PT, DPT

“I believe physical therapy should be a collaborative approach between the clinician and patient to ensure each treatment is individualized. It is my goal to give patients the education and tools to be successful in their normal daily activities as well as any recreational activities. So much of what we experience in life is dictated through our movement so being able to assist patients with their recovery to move better and reclaim independence is the most rewarding feeling.”

Morgan is a Huntington Beach native who knew she wanted to pursue a career in Physical Therapy from a young age. Playing soccer from the age of 4, Morgan was constantly surrounded by injuries from her teammates and herself. In high school, Morgan was able to shadow her aunt, who works as a geriatric physical therapist in Chicago. It was there that she saw the real impact rehabilitation can have on a person’s life and wellbeing. She decided on a career in Physical Therapy due to a desire to heal people in combination with her fascination of the human body.

Morgan attended San Diego State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy. During her time there, she was able to be a part of the adaptive fitness clinic and work with individuals with minor to severe physical and neuromuscular diseases. She gained experience prescribing exercise programs for clients with varying disabilities and carrying out their collaborative plan of care throughout the semester. In addition, Morgan participated in a semester long study abroad program in London to increase awareness of cross-cultural issues, global health, and social services experienced by local populations in international environments.

Immediately after graduating, Morgan went on to achieve her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Chapman University, the longest running Physical Therapists Education program in the United States. Morgan was recognized with Academic Excellence at graduation and was ranked within the top 15% of her class. Throughout her time at Chapman, Morgan was able to get experience in outpatient orthopedic clinics all around Southern California where she received training in manual therapy and exercise prescription for back to sport rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation pre- and post- surgery, and orthopedic pediatric cases.

In her free time, Morgan loves to spend time with friends and family. Her favorite activities include going to the beach in the summer and snowboarding during the winter months. She also loves to stay active with indoor cycling, hiking, and playing with her puppy. Morgan is excited to join the HBPTS team in providing evidence-based and patient-centered care to her local community.
