Wellness Programs

Our wellness programs are individualized and designed to assist in making a healthier you.

*Clients who have had physical therapy previously for a diagnosis (established by their treating Physician) but are not currently experiencing acute pain or symptoms, and who need supervision for continuation of their exercise program or maintenance program.

  • No initial evaluation needed.
  • Unlimited visits.
  • $20 with an Aide. $50 for 1/2 hr with PT/PTA.

* Clients who need a general Cardiovascular Exercise Program to assist in controlling their hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes or heart disease.

Contraindications: Any cardiac surgery done within the past 4 months and/or any acute cardiac conditions (i.e., Heart attack) within the past 1 month.

  • Evaluation with a PT/PTA, $50 - Assess patient's current exercise tolerance, check resting BP and HR, and check BP and HR with exercise.
  • First 2 weeks - Supine and sitting exercises with 5-15 minutes of cardio exercise). ($20-supervised by an aide-O2 sat, HR, and BP taken)
  • Weeks 3-4 - Decrease supine exercises/stretches to 5-10 minutes. Increase standing exercises and progress cardio exercise to 15-25 minutes. ($20-supervised by an aide- O2 sat, HR, and BP taken)
  • Weeks 5-6 - Continue with 5-10 minutes of stretching/strengthening exercises and progress cardio exercise to 20-45 minutes of varying cardiovascular activities (bike, TM, cardio-glide, agility, etc.) ($20-supervised by an aide- O2 sat, HR, and BP taken)
  • Follow-up with PT/PTA, as needed, to decrease or increase rate of progression. ($50)

class="red"*Clients who are aging and noticing a generalized decrease in their strength and energy level.

  • Evaluation with a PT/PTA $50 - Assess patient's O2 sat, HR, BP, UE/LE strength, and current fitness level. If the patient is physically able, we will evaluate his/her walking tolerance on the TM or outdoors.
  • First two weeks - Focus on generalized and controlled strengthening exercises. ($20 - supervised by an aide).
  • Weeks 3-4 - Progress weight and repetitions of general strengthening program and add cardiovascular exercise training (ie. walking, bicycling). ($20-supervised by an aide)
  • Weeks 5-6 - Eliminate all seated exercises and progress exercises to work different muscle groups, while adding weight to previous exercises ($20-supervised by an aide). Follow-up with PTA to re-assess strength and walking tolerance at the end of week 6 ($50).

*Clients who need to Manage Osteoporosis Program.

  • Evaluation by a PT/ PTA to assess patient's general strength level, note any other medical conditions, distinguish between any possible structural or functional scoliosis or kypohtoic postural deficits, and develop a exercise program/routine. ($50)
  • Weeks 1-3- Patient will run through a 45-60 minute exercise program to address any postural deficits they are acquiring and begin a weight bearing exercises, as tolerated. ($20 with supervision by an aide)

* Clients who require further core strengthening and would like a Pilates-based Stabilization Program.

  • Evaluation and development of a progressive Pilates based core stabilization program ($20/visit).

* Clients who demonstrate progressive worsening of their posture and would like to partake in a Posture Re-education Program.

  • Evaluation by a PT/ PTA to assess patient's postural deficits, determine whether the patient demonstrates signs of functional or structural deficits, assess general strength level, note any other medical conditions, and develop an appropriate exercise program/routine. ($50)
  • Weeks 1-3 - Patient will run through a series of individualized strengthening and stretching exercises aimed to address any postural deficits they have acquired and which may be progressing. ($20 with supervision by an aide)

*Sessions which include a PT/PTA will involve evaluation and treatment by the therapist for 30 minutes and a physical therapist aide for the remainder of his/her session.

**All exercise and weight progression will be initiated and/or approved by the PT or PTA only.

Group Wellness Classes

Our group wellness classes will be offered on a set calendar schedule and will hold anywhere from 1-6 clients at a time. They are designed to assist you in taking that next step toward healthy living. Please call to sign up for your desired class (no walk-ins). (714) 841-6162.

All classes are developed and directly supervised by a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant and particularly designed to address each individuals' goals. We are available to answer any questions you have during or after our classes and we will guide you through each exercise at every session.

$20/class - Or sign up for 5 classes at the price of 4, limited time only.

YOGA: 50 minutes of combined stretching, strengthening, breathing, and balance training via poses designed to help create a balance between each individual's physical, mental, and spiritual health.

PILATES: 50 minutes of Pilates-based exercises which will combine stretching, strengthening, and core stabilization work. This class is focused on improving core strength and stability.

STRETCH & STRENGTHEN: 50 minutes of supervised strength training, which can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being, as well as, static stretching to keep in shape and prevent injury. This class will help improve muscle and tendon strength, reduce potential for injury, improve metabolism, increase bone density, improve cardiac function, increase upper and lower extremity flexibility, and help elevate HDL (good) cholesterol levels.

BALANCE & FALL PREVENTION: 50 minutes of educational balance and gait training. Many balance and gait disturbances arise from muscle weakness, vestibular (inner ear) disorders, visual deficits, or somatosensory (touch) input loss. This program will focus on each individual's particular difficulties, in order to identify and target the factors that are affecting their balance deficits and help decrease their risk for falls.

GROUP MEET: A free meeting to join the HBPTS staff along with other member of our community in a group outing ranging from a short walk to a light jog. We will have various levels to suit your current fitness level. Walks/jogs will range from 10 minutes to 45 minutes or various routes near our office.
